Abstract
The article is dedicated to the analysis of the science fiction work „Ten righteous” by the contemporary Bulgarian writer Lubomir Nikolov. The aim of our scientific research is to discover the main features that characterize a new Bulgarian science fiction novel. Accordingly, the subject is to investigate the peculiarities of a postmodern writing at the level of genre, the concept of the character and the poetics. As to the findings, the main features of romantic anti-utopian science fiction, which the analyzed work is referred to, are special type of hero’s thinking, special world’s vision, the desire to create the perfect romantic world, romantic ideal and characters. The principles of film cutting and genre diffusion are embodied by the usage of the action elements, dystopia, science fiction. Referring to the traditional for SF world of the future (Earth 2028) and the theme of ecological disaster (global apocalypse), the writer chooses the method of sudden transformation of the universe, offering several opportunities for the formation of a new character. L. Nikolov depicted two personality types: the first one – independent, characterizing the people of the previous period (Mishin, Bouche, Bergeron, etc.), the second one – people of choice, indecision, opposite senses (Father Donovan, N. Benyev). Through constant interaction it is the second type that provides a renewed character – spiritually enriched, refined, romantic and strong. Intertext, game, carnival makes it possible to talk about the features of postmodernism in this SF work.
