Terapia w wodzie po urazach w obrębie kończyny górnej

Journal Title: Rehabilitacja w Praktyce - Year 2017, Vol 1, Issue 1

Abstract

Due to its complex structure, upper extremity can be prone to sustaining an injury. Aquatic environment offers unique possibilities that can accelerate the rehabilitation process. It can help regain full range of motion (ROM), reduce muscle hypertension and integrate dynamic movement patterns of the shoulder, elbow and wrist joints in more functional tasks. Buoyancy and working in reduced gravity conditions also help retrain scapulothoracic rhythm and scapular stabilization. Moreover, water offers preferable conditions for isometric strengthening in different joint positions, reducing muscle atrophy and regaining neuromuscular control in full ROM.
