Abstract
The article deals with the issues of formation and functioning of eponyms in various terminological systems (technical, natural and humanitarian) of modern Ukrainian language: the varieties of onomastic terms most commonly used in academic texts in the branch of natural sciences, and the specifics of their grammatical forms are described, deviations from modern word-building, morphological and spelling rules as well as common errors in the use of them are analyzed. It is proved that the spelling of nominal terms requires further systematization and fixation in specialized journals, reference books, and subsequently in state standards.
