The Applied Aspects of the Study of Rituals in Scientific Atheism (on the Example of the Institute of Philosophy of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR).

Abstract
The article analyzes the activity of the department of scientific atheism of the Institute of Philosophy in developing and implementing the Soviet rites. It is shown that scientific atheists were engaged with the issues of new rituals because of the state and party organizations demand, as well as in the context of developing «the positive aspects of atheism». It was found out that the study of socialist rituals interested scientists of the Institute of Philosophy more than the study of religious worship. Analyzing documents of the research project dedicated to the new rites, completed in 1978–1980, the author finds out that it has had only applied results and has not left theoretical research. The author also comes to the conclusion that the research of the issues of Soviet rituals conducted by scientific atheists does not come with the province of religious studies.
