The artistic processing of leather on the territory of Podillia

Abstract
This article is devoted to the theme of developing of the artistic processing of leather on the territory of Podillia. The crafts (leather-dressing, saddlery, boots crafting, furriery, cover making), typology of items (shoes, clothes, saddles, straps, cases for weapons and for hunting knives, book covers), basic techniques of the artistic leather processing (stamping, embroidery, openwork cutting, weaving with colored straps, morocco appliqué), and decorations of leather goods of the Podillia region are being considered. At the same time, the names of the craftsmen of the folk decorations of art of the late XIX-early XXI centuries are being indicated, that ones who engaged the production of the leather goods. The examples of the artistic features of the leather processing of Podillia are given. It is revealed that the artistic features of the decoration of leather goods on the territory of Podillia are the unique ethno-cultural phenomenons, which are integral parts of the national artistic heritage of Podillia region. The author observes the high importance of the creativity of folk artists in the revival and the development of the decorative arts of Ukraine
