The Attitudes of Parents of Elementary School Students Toward Children’s Rights

Abstract
This study aims at finding out the attitudes of parents toward children’s rights. The participants of the study consist of 7 state primary schools representing lower, middle and upper socio-economic levels in Karşiyaka District of İzmir province and seventh-grade student’s representing a private primary school parents. According the results of the study, the attitudes of parents toward children's rights don't differ based on their marital status, the perceived welfare levels and the number of children. However, at the sub dimension of 'state security and support' they differ in favor of male children. While the attitude points of 'state security and support' differ in favor of school parents from middle socio-economic level, the attitude points of 'self determination' differ in favor of school parents from upper socio-economic level.
