The category of person as a means of expressing politeness

Abstract
The article is devoted to the category of person as a means of expressing politeness in the Ukrainian communicative culture. The grammatical category of person is characterized by considerable pragmatic potential, due to the fact that the pronoun demonstrate the attitude towards the addressee to which the illocutionary effect is directed (Ukrainian pronoun “You” is the indicates negative politeness and Ukrainian pronoun “you” is the indicates positive politeness).
