The childhood bronchial asthma diagnosis with 3 different bronchial provocation tests
Journal Title: Alergoprofil - Year 2007, Vol 3, Issue 1
Abstract
Background: Discrepancy regarding specifity and sensitivity are shown in particular bronchial provocation tests in asthma diagnostics. Aim: Estimate a usefulness of 3 different bronchial provocation tests in asthma diagnostics at school-age children. Methods: A bronchial provocation test with histamine, adenosine and exercise test on treadmill was performed in group of 12 children in the age of 14,66 + 1,72 having asthma treatment. PC20 of histamine and adenosine was estimated as well as ΔFEV1 after the exercise test. Results: Bronchial hyperreactivity for exercise and adenosine was observed in all children. In two boys a typical bronchial hyperreactivity for histamine was not shown. Statistic analysis of PC20 and ΔFEV1 value in performed tests showed significant correlation. Conclusions: Bronchial provocation tests with histamine, adenosine and exercise test on treadmill are methods of specifying bronchial hyperreactivity in children with asthma.
