Journal Title: Zarządzanie i Finanse - Year 2013, Vol 11, Issue 1

Abstract

The transformation now taking place in the international economy is un-precedented. The political, economic and, above all, technological changes cause far-reaching consequences in the contemporary international business environment. The companies tackling the international economy face new chal-lenges and threats, as well as remarkable opportunities. But many of them are working in conditions of the limited resources. One of the method of overcoming this problem is the cooperation between companies and with other institutions from the business environment. A good example of this kind of functioning is cluster. It is some kind of a new way of acquiring a competition advantage on the international market. Its members can obtain knowledge, learn from the experiences and share resources with each other. The aim of this article is to show how the membership of companies in cluster supports their internationalization. The paper consists of three main parts. The first one shows different approaches to the companies’ international-ization. The second part is devoted to the clusters. The author presents the defi-nition of clusters, their common features and the concept of the triple helix. The last part includes a wide range of activities which support the internationaliza-tion among clusters’ members.
