The complex structure of crime is the basis for improving preventive activities

Abstract
The qualitative characteristic of crime, which we consider in the article as a statistically ordered plurality of crimes, but not their systems, is its structure. The construction of the latter is carried out in criminology according to statistical, criminal law, criminological, socio-demographic and victimological indicators. Statistical structure is superficial information on the number (specific gravity) of crimes, registered in a certain space and time, and criminals who committed them. Such structure does not provide any qualitative evidence of crime, but it is the basis for further structuring. Criminal law structure of crime is formed by particular institutes of criminal law and corpus delicti, containing more qualitative crime characteristics. Criminological structure of crime, based on the official statistical and criminal law structure, deepens characteristics of crime or its individual expression and is built on any grounds. The scale of such structuring affects its practical use in preventive activities. Socio-demographic and victimological features of the crime structuring of crimes and victims of crimes are intended to identify the typical criminologically significant demographic, social, legal, moral and psychological characteristics for the personality of criminals and victims, their behavior standards, connections “offender-situationvictim”, etc. The targeting for relevant actors (for example, the police) to the most advanced direction in crime prevention, especially on a regional and local level, requires the structuring of the plurality of crimes, criminals, victims, which would have maximized specification and even detailed structural features and elements, and, above all – contributed to not only establish real criminogenic objects, but also would lead to local conditions of their existence. This kind of the structuring of crime is called by us as the complex structure of crime. For its construction are used an official information about registered crimes, as well as data obtained by the empirical way. In addition, an information from various fields of knowledge and technology also is involved.
