Abstract
The article is a theoretical study of the problem of application of criminal law to protect the environment in Ukraine and the EU. The question of the relevance of the use of criminal responsibility as preventive and punitive measures for environmental protection and environmental rights in Ukraine and European countries. Attention is paid to the question of the effectiveness of criminal law is to protect the environment and environmental rights of citizens of Ukraine.
