The current status of populations of reophilic fish species in waterbodies of Polissky natural reserve and surroundings
Journal Title: Naukovyi visnyk Chernivetskoho universytetu. Biolohiia (Biolohichni systemy) - Year 2017, Vol 9, Issue 2
Abstract
The species composition of the fishes of the waterbodies of the Polissky Nature Reserve and its surroudeds is described. The research was conducted in 2011-2017 on the rivers Bolotnytsia, Zholobnytsia, Ubort and Perha, as well as in several waterbodies of the basin system. The collection of the National Science and Natural Sciences Museum of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine for this region, literary data has been analyzed. We found 28 species of lampreys and fish. For the first time, the following species have been found for these region: Romanogobio belingi (Slastenenko, 1934), Rhynchocypris percnurus (Pallas, 1814), Sabanejewia baltica Witkowski, 1994, Perccottus glenii Dybowski, 1877. To the reophylic species belong to 8 species. The populations of most of them are in satisfactory condition, as evidenced by the quantity and size structure of populations (the presence of both small young individuals and older age groups). In the studied watrbodies six red-book species have been found, among them 4 are attracted to running water. This is Eudonto¬myzon mariae (Berg, 1931), Lota lota (Linnaeus, 1758), Leuciscus leuciscus (Linnaeus, 1758), Alburnoides rossicus Berg, ¬1924. The Eudonto¬myzon mariae and Alburnoides rossicus are the common species for the rivers Ubort and Perha, the Lota lota occurs in small quantities in Perha, Ubort and Bolotnytsia, and the Leuciscus leuciscus is seldom recorded in Perha and Ubort. There are two species of alien fish - Carassius (superspecies auratus) (Linnaeus, 1758) and Perccottus glenii Dybowski, 1877, which at the moment are not numerical and occur near the places of probable release. The main negative factor influencing the ecosystem of investigated waters is the mass illegal and unregulated mining of amber. When it is conducted, the forest cover is destroyed, the surface of the area changes. It can not but affects the hydro-logical and hydrochemical regime of the rivers. Currently, such developments are available in the Ubort, Perha and Zholobnytsia basins, rivers that are especially valuable for the conservation of rare fish species.
