THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE MODERN OLYMPIC MOVEMENT: CULTUROLOGICAL ASPECT

Abstract
The article is devoted to the relationship of sport and culture as relevant and distinctive phenomenon of the modern international sports competitions in different kinds of sport. It is shown that the definition kalokahathia had value with respect to the development of sport and physical culture as areas of social activities aimed at the development of volitional qualities of members of society, their moral and aesthetic education, increase of level of general culture, expansion of international contacts, cultural co-operation, strengthening of peace and friendship between peoples. Considered the history and contemporary state of olympic movement, as well as the phenomenon of Cultural Olympiads. It is proven that prospects of development of the modern Olympic movement depend on the relationship with the culture, and also modern concepts of kalokahathia.
