Abstract
The dramatic poem The Eternal Ship of the emigrant writer L. Mosendz reflects the existential search for the person who was struck by the experience of the catastrophic vicissitudes of the twentieth century. The tasks of the article comprise the determining the artistic and content parameters of the dramatic poem The Eternal Ship, outlining the symbolic basis of the depicted transformations and modifications, elucidating their existential forms, studying the conflict between imaginary and actual states, analyzing the process of choice and its consequences as determinative factors of dramatic action deployment. L. Mosendz creates a sign and symbolic poem which reflects the projection of the internal state of global uncertainty and becomes an understanding of the changes of the existential paradigm. The image of the eternal ship turns into a symbol of an unrealized desire to find a newly inherent meaning, which acquires an independent but hermetically locked value. The dramatic poem by L. Mosendz The Eternal Ship embodies the idea of interdependence between personal and national expression. The author singles out the moral aspect of the problem, which is conditioned by the internal motives of the decisions of the heroes and is realized through their actions. Hans's erroneous decision acquires a symbolic expression in the form of an eternal ship, which emphasizes its massive devastating consequences. Hans's image loses its vitality, turning into a lonely shell that is doomed to the infinite existence in this state.
