The Effect of Corporate Governance Mechanisms on Conditional and Unconditional Conservatism of Listed Companies on the Stock Exchange of Tehran

Abstract

Conservatismhave a closely relationship with corporate governance mechanisms and both haveplay an important role in reducing information asymmetry and reduce agency costs in contracts.Conservatism canlimit behave opportunistically manage the company's financial reporting.The overall goal of this study was to investigate the effect of corporate governance mechanisms on conditional and unconditional conservatism of listed companies on the Stock Exchange of Tehran.In this studywere used of data 101 companies in the period 1387 to 1391. The researchhave beenconsidered elements of corporate governance mechanisms as independent variables and conditional and unconditional conservatism as the dependent variable and three-variableFirm size,the ratio ofmarket valuetobook valueof equityandfinancial leverageascontrol variables.To conduct this research, were presented two main hypothesesand for each hypothesis were presented four sub-hypothesis and were used Eviews statistical software for data analysis.The research method is of correlation type and according to thetargetfunctional.The results of the hypothesis show thathas a positive influence the corporate governancemechanisms on conditional conservatismand has a negativeimpact and leading to a decrease in the unconditional conservatisminrelation tocorporate governancemechanismsandelements ofwithunconditionalconservatism, institutionalownershipandmanagerialownership.
