The Effect of Teaching the Topic of Environment Problems By Using Caricature on Students’ Academic Success And Attitude Towards Environment

Abstract
In this study, that the effects of teaching by using caricature the topic of environmental problems which is stated in the environmental issues unit of secondary school 6th grades’ social studies lesson on student’s academic success and attitude was searched. The study group included 40 students from the 6th grade of a secondary school in Afyonkarahisar/ Emirdağ in the second term of 2014-2015 education years. In the investigation, an achievement test as a data collection tool which includes 24 multiple choice questions about environmental problems developed by researcher and an environmental attitude scale developed by Artun and Özsevgeç (2012) were used. The acquired data was analyzed with the SPSS Packet Program. In the result of analysis, it was observed that in the social studies lessons the usage of caricature technique in teaching environmental problems made a meaningful difference on students’ academic success, additionally it supplied distinct increase on the arithmetic mean of students’ attitude.
