THE FORMATION OF THE PRINCIPLE OF ESTOPPEL IN INTERNATIONAL LAW

Abstract
The article considers the formation of the principle of estoppel in international law, defines approaches to understanding of the principle of estoppel, states that the principle of estoppel originates from English law. It was initially used by the English courts as a means of proving it during the trial, and was subsequently formed as a principle of case law, the main idea of which is the prohibition of referring to circumstances previously recognized by the party as indisputable, based on its actions or assurances.
