Journal Title: Psychology and Education: A Multidisciplinary Journal - Year 2022, Vol 1, Issue 1

Abstract

The Department of Education encouraged all teachers to create learning resources. Currently, there is no existing mechanism to cater the online learning modality. Because of the time constraints and limitations, Self-Learning Modules are not well suited to online learning. The modules themselves were not flawless. Learners who are more engaged with their learning materials perform better academically. With this, the researcher decided to create electronic simplified modules. The purpose of this action research was to evaluate the impact of e-SM or electronic-Simplified Modules for the academic performance in Aralin Panlipunan among online Grade 6 SSES of Butuan Central Elementary School. During the second-quarter period, e-SM or electronic simplified modules were utilized in both synchronous and asynchronous sessions. The means of two samples were computed to determine the level of academic performance between the pretest and posttest. The data revealed that the pretest mean value was 16.7333, indicating Good" academic performance. However, after the intervention, the mean posttest score increased to 32.3667, indicating "Very good" academic performance. Furthermore, based on the significance level and the p-value of 0.000, it was concluded that there was a significant difference in the level of academic performance of learners in Aralin Panlipunan before and after the intervention. The results indicated that the intervention's goals had been met. As a result, the use of e-SM, or electronic simplified modules, in online education was strongly advised.
