The Impact of Smart Grids on Sustainable Development

Journal Title: Acta Energetica - Year 2016, Vol 29, Issue 4

Abstract

The paper discusses the impact of smart grid on sustainable development. The first chapter is an introduction to the discussed topics. The second chapter describes man’s attitude toward the environment, and also provides details of threats from wind farms and solar power plants. The third chapter introduces dynamic tariffs for electricity and the current status of smart metering deployment in Poland and in EU countries. The fourth chapter focuses on the energy production in a manner that promotes sustainable eco-development through the use of renewable energy and the concept of energy self-sufficient municipality.
