The Influence of the Contact Pressure on the Value of the Coefficient of Friction
Journal Title: Tribology in Industry - Year 2017, Vol 39, Issue 2
Abstract
Experimental research was carried out on the tribometer of high reliability of measurement. The paper discusses the impact of normal contact pressure on the value of the coefficient of friction. Elements that are in contact are filled steel rollers with different mass and diameters that slide on the hollow roller shaped like a ring. These contact elements are completely submerged in oil and have identical lubrication requirements. The results of this study indicate the significant influence of the level of normal load and contact pressure on the coefficient of friction.

Effect of Contact Temperature Rise During Sliding on the Wear Resistance of TiNi Shape Memory Alloys
The high wear resistance of TiNi shape memory alloys has generally been attributed to its pseudoelastic nature. In the present work the hardening effect due to its phase transformation from martensite to austenite due to...
Wear Resistance Increase of Samples Tribomating in Oil Composite with Geo Modifier КGМF-1
Increase of wear resistance of different types of tribomating which are functioning in fluid lubrication is possible due to: choosing more expensive and high quality material of samples that is not always sensible; apply...
Friction and Wear Processes – Thermodynamic Approach
Tribology, as the scientific and professional discipline within the mechanical engineering, studies phenomena and processes on the interacting surfaces, in direct and indirect contact and in relative motion. It includes...
A Historical Review on the Tribological Performance of Refrigerants used in Compressors
Refrigerants directly affect the tribological performance of interacting components in a compressor. Since the introduction of artificially formulated refrigerants, the types of refrigerants used in compressors have chan...
Mechanical and Tribological Behavior of Vinyl Ester Hybrid Composites
An attempt has been made to explore the effect of hybrid reinforcement on mechanical properties and dry sliding wear behavior of vinyl ester (VE) composites. Vinyl ester reinforced with alkali treated coir fibers (CF-VE)...
