The influence of trinexapac-ethyl, chlorocholine chloride, metconazole and tebuconazole on plant morphology and yield of winter oilseed rape depending on time of application

Journal Title: Rośliny Oleiste - Oilseed Crops - Year 2010, Vol 31, Issue 2

Abstract

Canopy structure of winter rape can be significantly modified through application of plant growth regulators. Time of application of plant growth regulator on winter rape is strongly connected with the aim of its action. Application of plant growth regulators in autumn may enhance freezing resistance mostly through stem shortening. Springtime application of plant growth regulators not only reduces the risk of lodging but also modifies canopy plant structure and finally results in better use of plant yielding potential. Field experiments were carried out in the years 2004–2006 in the Institute of Plant Protection in Poznań. The trials attempted at estimation the best conditions for spring application of plant growth regulators to influence the growth and plant structure of winter rape. For experiment there were chosen trinexapac-ethyl and chlorocholine chloride as antigibberelic regulators and two triazole fungicides, metconazole and tebuconazole. Plant growth regulators were applied in two spring times: just after start of vegetation and at the beginning of budding. In the experiments plant height, chlorophyll content, number of pods per plant, number of seeds in pod, lodging, weight of 1000 seeds, yield, protein and oil content were estimated.
