THE KOMARIVKA LEVEL OF THE KORDYSHIV VIII MULTI-LAYERED BURIAL-MOUND IN SHUMSK DISTRICT

Abstract

The burial-mound near the village of Kordyshiv, Shumsk district, have been known since the beginning of the XX c. First archaeological investigations of the burial-mound near Kordyshiv were conducted in 2013 by M. Yahodynska and V. Ilchyshyn. The investigators found one group cremation burial place of the Komarivska culture (burial-mound № 1). During 2014 and 2015 years two more burial-mounds were investigated where burials of 3 chronological levels were discovered. The burial level of the Komarivska culture is represented by 3 burials in the burial-mound № 2 (single inhumation) and 4 burials in the burial-mound № 3 (pair inhumations). Typical bronze decorations for the Komarivska culture were found out in the burials: spiral bracelets, torque and bronze pins. Ceramic complex of the burials is rather atypical. A considerable number of utensils in the burials is represented by so called Noua type bowls. Results of anthropological analysis (burial 1 – burial mound 3) confirm mixed character of the site – the Komarivska culture and the Noua culture. The analysis showed that there were 2 women of different anthropological type in one burial place. At present stage of the investigations the Komarivka level of the burials from the Kordyshiv burial-ground is dated in the limits XV–XIII cc. B.C.
