THE LIBERAL COURSE IN UKRAINIAN SOCIAL THOUGHT AND IN THE NEWEST PROCESS OF STATE BUILDING

Abstract
The article highlights the theoretical and practical aspects of the formation and development of the liberal trend in Ukrainian social thought. The place and role of the principles of liberalism in the processes of modern state building are considered. The specifics of the formation of the liberal segment of the political spectrum of society in a post-totalitarian country are presented. The ideological foundations of traditional and modern liberalism, its socio-economic approaches in the context of deep democratic transformations, and the peculiarities of the mass consciousness of a transitional society are analyzed. Authors' generalizations and conclusions on understanding the historical heritage of national liberalism, actualization of its values for overcoming crisis phenomena and further sustainable development of Ukraine as a new independent state of Eastern Europe are offered.
