The main criminological features of a criminal, who commits grave violent crimes against life and health in the largest cities

Abstract

The scientific paper is dedicated to the main criminological features of a criminal, who commits grave violent crimes against life and health in the largest cities. These criminological features have been analyzed by the author based on results of the empirical study – the materials of 310 archive criminal proceedings, heared by Kyiv, Kharkiv and Odesa courts during 2012–2017, and the official statistic data of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine. The author stressed, that this problem haven’t been a subject of thorough consideration in the geographical segment, whereas the urgent necessity of the fundamental characteristics of corresponding crimes, committed in the largest cities, for Ukrainian law enforcement agencies. The comprehensive characteristic of this type of crimes is a compulsive condition for formulization of the effective system of prevention of grave violent crimes against life and health in the largest cities. The author concluded, that committing grave violent crimes against life and health is primary a masculine type of criminal behavior. The main part of such crimes is committing by men in the yang age: between 14 and 35 years. Considerable number of criminals were unmarried and haven’t children. About 90 % criminals have been lived in the same city, where they committed their violent crime. The educational level of urban violent criminals is lower, than the same of honest citizens. The unemployed persons composed 67,6 % of convicted for these crimes. The main motives of grave violent crimes against life and health, committed in the largest cities of Ukraine are: suddenly arisen hostile relationships between victim and criminal; profit motivation; conflict and long lasting hostile relationships with a victim; revenge; violence as a method of nurturing kids and others. The most of murders and severe bodily injury are forethought. Some criminals have been convicted before.
