Journal Title: Söylem Filoloji Dergisi - Year 2018, Vol 3, Issue 2

Abstract

İhsan Oktay Anar's Yedinci Gün narrative is based on Ottoman social life, science studies, political order, and the relations of people with their own distinctive features. In this narrative, the author proceeds to exhibit the life carried out in a humorous and ironic language, the intentions and actions of the interesting personalities he created, and his bizarre behavior and movements. In the narrative of historical periods as a backdrop, the epistemic background from the Middle East, mythology to modern sciences occupies an important place. The narrator also constructs a fictitious world in the carnival air and goes on to make a parody of some mythical and religious narratives, events, and well-known names. In this article, it will be tried to examine how parody and parodialization works as a writing and style feature in İhsan Oktay Anar's Yedinci Gün narration and what it adds to the literary work.
