THE PECULIARITIES OF PERSONAL NAMES IN ELECTRONIC GAMES

Abstract
The purpose of the study is to outline the general peculiarities of personal names that nominate the elements that belong to the virtual worlds of electronic games. The subject matter of the study is the functioning of different classes of personal names in the electronic games discourse. The study introduces a new sphere to the existing onomastic terminological ecosystem — the onomastics of electronic games. The descriptive and taxonomic methods were mainly used for this purpose. Results: because electronic games are chiefly aimed at imitating the reality, the personal names that are used there also tend to imitate the reality and also enhance it with elements specific to games. Consequently, 13 classes of personal names that are specific to electronic games may be defined.
