THE QUESTION OF USING THE TERM “PROLETARIAT” IN THE STUDY OF CONTEMPORARY UKRAINIAN SOCIETY

Abstract

Purpose. The aim of the article is to provide a defining and statistical description of the state of modern Ukrainian society in view of clarifying the meaning of the term “proletariat”. Methodology of research. The monographic method is the basis of scientific research – in the implementation of the epistemological analysis of the term “proletariat” from the standpoint of the present state, problems and peculiarities of the evolution of the Ukrainian society in the context of deepening market relations, as well as other related general scientific research methods on the problem of class segregation of society in terms of the ideology of market changes in the country, including the presence of destructive groups of agents in economically reformed societies. Findings. The epistemology of the term “proletariat” is analyzed from the point of view of the current state, problems and peculiarities of the evolution of Ukrainian society in conditions of deepening of market relations. It is determined the main problem of the existence of a destructively adjusted to the market changes of a part of society, whose actions inhibit the reforms. It has been found that for this part of society, poverty is characterized by a significantly lower quality of life, lack of prospects, and, as a result, pessimism about changes and obstruction of the authorities. It is argued that the use of the term “proletariat” is correct for this group of agents. In general, the necessity of finding new sources for development based on changing the model of behaviour of the destructive part of society is substantiated. It is emphasized that this development corresponds to the global trend for the formation of post-industrial society in recent decades. Originality. The methodology of definition of the term “proletariat” is clarified, which provides the main criterion for the destructive behavior of certain categories of population in relation to changes in the country, market reforms, etc.; the criterion of the dynamics of the destructively adjusted part of society is proposed to consider as a criterion for the effectiveness of reforms (changes); the interpretation of this term is carried out in the conditions of reformed economies and societies with correspondingly increased conflict; it is substantiated, including empirically describes the effect of preferential orientation of young generations on the values of economically liberal ideology. Practical value. Methodology for determining the proletariat in modern Ukraine, including the methodological principles for tracking the respective populations can be proposed as a tool for creating a new type of state policy aimed at continuing market reforms with the formation of an appropriate social ideology, as well as minimizing the destructive influence of opportunist groups of agents.
