The readability of instruction manuals: syntactic aspects

Abstract
The article deals with the texts of instruction manuals translated from German into Ukrainian and attempts to define and generalize the syntactic criteria of their readability. These criteria take into account the theme and rheme patterns, the minimum word count necessary for information transfer and the optimization of syntactic relations in the sentence.
