The reform of the Russian Orthodox Church at the turn of the XIX - XX centuries

Abstract

Considered period during the second half of the nineteenth – early twentieth centuries in the history of the Russian Empire, which was marked by an acute crisis of government, which important part was the Orthodox Church. Urgent was the reform of church government, the Church had to return to patriarchal rule. In this hard time the Church stopped being authority, uniform saving force on society. At the beginning of the XX century there are religious and philosophical meetings at which questions of revaluation modern by it church policy are discussed. Questions of reforming of Church will melt an integral part of discussions in the State Duma of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th convocations.
