The Relationship between Anthropometric Parameters of Lower Extremity and Motor Functions of Running and Jumping in11-Year-Old Male Students

Journal Title: Journal of Science and today’s world - Year 2016, Vol 5, Issue 12

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between some anthropometric parameters of lower extremity and motor functions of running and jumping. For this purpose, 60 samples of 11-year-old students in guidance schools were selected randomly. After anthropometric measurements of lower extremity length, the circumference of the hip, leg, diameters of pelvis, knee, ankle, tests of motor function, high jump and long jump and 45-meter sprint were carried out. After calculating the T score of total motor functions, their correlation coefficient was calculated for each of the above measures and then the same operation was done for each one of the motor functions with the abovementioned measures. The results of the research indicated that there was a significant relationship between the total score of motor functions and the size of lower extremity length, pelvis diameter, and knee diameter. There was also a significant relationship between length and the size of lower extremity and knee diameter. There was a significant relationship between the components of jump height and all the mentioned measures except the leg circumference. There was a negative significant relationship between the components of 45-meter sprint and the size of lower extremity length and leg circumference. Moreover, there was a positive significant relationship between the components of 45-meter sprint and the size of pelvis diameter. The other obtained relationships were not significant.
