THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SUSTAINABLE TOURISM AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN THE CONTEXT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION

Abstract
The importance of the link between sustainable tourism and sustainable development comes from the support provided by the environment tourism activities. However, it is believed that tourism should not work towards environmental degradation. Another important aspect of the sustainable tourism - sustainable development relationship is the preservation of the natural heritage of the tourist area. This can attract tourists and help increase tourism revenues for local and regional communities. Environmental degradation leads to the alienation of tourists and decreased tourism revenues. Costs incurred for environmental protection affects tourism activities. Thus, the article presents an analysis of environmental expenditures for the main activities of the national economy. The growth in tourism has led to increased employment and social welfare. Tourists can contribute to the development of a region. In this respect, the article gives a statement on the number of tourists accommodated in tourist reception with functions of tourist accommodation.
