THE RESEARCH ON FREQUENCY-CONTROLLED ELECTRIC DRIVE OPERATION MODES UNDER FAULT-TOLERANT CONTROL

Abstract

Purpose. In the paper the results of research on developed systems for fault-tolerant vector control, which ensure operability of frequency-controlled electric drive with presence of damages in power circuit of induction motor’s stator, are shown. Methodology. The research was conducted for the case of operation with minor stator damages or defects at incipient stage of their development, which leads to motor currents unsymmetry, increasing heat losses in separate phases, occurance of variable components in electromagnetic torque and power consumption signals. Along with this, the motor operates in unsymmetrical mode. Such modes influence significantly both on operations of induction motor and on frequency inverter. Long-term operation of semiconducting energy converter in such mode leads to significant heating of separate keys, and, subsequently, to full failure. Results. Proposed control systems allow one to decrease number of variable components of electromagnetic torque or active power consumption. Presented methods for fault-tolerant frequency control assure operability of electric drive under presence of damages in IM power circuit and allows one to increase frequency-controlled electric drive lifetime. Practical value. The use of proposed systems for fault-tolerant control allow one to decrease heat overloads in separate phases of induction motor and semiconductor keys of frequency converter. Developed methods could be used in existing frequency-controlled electric drive systems with vector control as addidional program blocks.
