LABORATORY STAND FOR INVESTIGATION OF OPERATING MODES OF THE FAN SYSTEM

Abstract

Purpose. The work is devoted to the synthesis of the complex laboratory stand, intended for research of the energy and pressure characteristics of a centrifugal fan unit. The element base of the stand consists of equipment widely used in the Eastern European region by such manufacturers as ABB, MORO s.r.l., Lovato, Dwyer, OWEN. Methodology. The stand consists of the fan with air duct, pressure and performance sensors, digital multimeter, software and hardware complex consisting of the logical controller, frequency converter, SCADA system and operator panel. Adjusting of the fan performance can be controlled in two ways: by throttling (servomotor flap) and frequency (by changing the rotational speed of the working wheel of the fan). The stand is controlled from a personal computer (SCADA system) or the operator panel, which are connected to a local network with sensors and digital multimeter. The information system of the stand is built on the basis of the generally accepted network interfaces RS-485, Ethernet and Modbus protocol. Results. The software developed on the basis of the SCADA system allows in the automatic mode to record and archive the parameters of the plant's operation, to build a database of the pressure and energy characteristics with subsequent analysis of the regulating method influence of the fan performance based on the energy indicators of the system. Originality. For positioning the flapper, a servomotor is used, based on a bipolar stepper motor, which is controlled by the programmable logic controller through a unified driver. This system allows the implementation of several engine control modes. The micro step mode is selected on the stand as a basic, which allows the damper to be set in a fixed position by the maximum performance of the fan and by the covered air duct. The structure and components of the developed stand are chosen in order to ensure high flexibility and further improving possibilities of the system functional requirements. Practical significance. The concept of the developed stand is aimed at improving the professional training of electrical engineers and includes practical issues related to the frequency converters settings, the programming of logic controllers and SCADA systems, the construction principles of the local and remote systems for microprocessor control of industrial facilities.
