The Role of Demographic Features in Job Burnout among Teachers

Abstract

Job burnout disorder is observed among different servicing jobs like consultants, social workers, teachers, practitioners, polices, nurses and so on, and this issue is probably the reason of the type of duties and responsibilities of these jobs. This study specifies the role of demographic factors in job burnout among the entire primary school teachers of Kerman city in the educational year of 2012-2013. To do this research using multistage sampling method 220 teachers of primary school teachers of Kerman city were selected. This study is a correlative research. In this study two types of questionnaires were used that are Maslach job burnout questionnaire and inventory of demographic factors. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics (frequency, percentage and mean) and multivariable regression analysis test. Conclusion showed that of influential demographic variables on teachers job burn out are age, marital status, gender, teaching experience, and level of education. In other words by increasing of age the rate of job burn out decreases in individuals, and the rate of job burn out in single teachers in more than married teachers. Also the rate of job burnout of male teachers is more than job burnout among female teachers. By increasing the job experience the rate of job burnout decreases among teachers.
