The Role of Jewish Schooling in the Primary Education System of Volyn at the End of ХIХ – Beginning ХХ century.

Abstract
The article presents the role of Jewish schooling in the system of elementary education in Volyn. The necessity of studying this problem is due to a number of contradictions between: the existence of a wide range of regional historical and pedagogical studies devoted to the formation and development of national schooling, and the lack of a coherent science-based concept of the development of Jewish schooling in Volyn. The topicality of the research is also grounded on the recognition of the importance of creating the necessary conditions for preventing the assimilation of national minorities of Ukraine and the imperfection of the formation of a national component in the practice of upbringing modern Jewish young people on the theoretical level. To achieve the goal and to solve the tasks of the article, a set of the scientific methods was used: general scientific methods (analysis, synthesis, analogy, comparison, generalization) and specific scientific methods (historical-pedagogical and historical-systemic) through which archival documents were processed and results of theoretical analysis of literature were obtained. The author comes to the conclusion that Jewish children could study in confessional elementary schools and secular educational institutions as national (state Jewish elementary schools according the Provision of 1873 and Jewish private schools according the Provision of 1844), and state (one-class and two-class rural and two-class municipal schools) according to the Provisions of 1869, 1874, and the instructions of 1875.
