THE ROLE OF METAPHOR IN FORMULATION OF THE POLITICAL APHORISMS (BASED ON THE MATERIAL FROM THE SLOGANS OF THE REVOLUTION OF DIGNITY)

Abstract

The article explores the use of metaphor to formulate references for the Revolution of Dignity, which makes it possible to trace the perception of political reality in the consciousness of the participants in these events and to identify the patterns of creating political aphorisms in a separate socio-political section. Taking as a basis the fact that the metaphor means not only decoration and expression, but is also the way of thinking, everyday reality of the language. We made an attempt to outline the specifics of inherent thinking in this political situation. There are four main categories of metaphor: predicative (appeared as a result of reassessment of action, activity), objective (appeared as a result of reassignment of some objects by the terms of other objects), attributive (appeared as a result of redefining the signs), and complex metaphors reinforced by symbolic associations (this group of references is noted by the fact that the metaphorical expression is not only associated with relevant socio-political realities or events, as well as additional emotions associated with vivid symbolic details). The empirical bases of their emergence were elucidated and we made some generalizations concerning features of the mass consciousness of the participants of the Revolution of Dignity. It is found that the metaphorical significance of each particular argument can be interpreted in different ways, each person perceives these slogans in his own way and obviously the secret of popularity of these slogans is revealed. Multivalued metaphorization, stylistically neutral words, shortness, verbatim expressions, the use of in-depth comments on the creativity of well-known personalities, all this contributes to the fact that the political situation that needs to be conceived is presented as something very well known. However, anyone who perceives the corresponding slogan brings to him a true understanding based on personal feelings and perceptions.
