The role of miRNAs in autoimmune inflammatory diseases
Journal Title: International Journal of Clinical Rheumatology - Year 2018, Vol 13, Issue 6
Abstract
MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are abundant short 21- 23 nucleotides-long non-coding RNAs that modulate virtually all eukaryotic gene expression processes during development and are crucial for sustaining optimal cell functions and tissue homeostasis. The potential of miRNAs as biomarkers and/or therapeutic targets in rheumatic diseases is a new area of research for which currently available data are promising and expanding but still limited.

Rituximab can induce remission in a patient with rheumatoid arthritis and Ankylosing spondylitis
The efficacy of Rituximab (RTX) has been examined in Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS) and Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) before. Here, we have reported the case of a patient with RA and AS showing good clinical improvement with RT...
A familial case of takayasu arteritis: HLA-related genetic susceptibility and efficacy of anti-TNFα treatment in two italian siblings
The aetiology of Takayasu Arteritis (TA) remains poorly understood. An autoimmune origin is the main hypothesis, suggesting an abnormal immune response against unknown antigens present on vessel walls. The genetic contri...
Lower ratings of pain intensity in older adults lead to underestimation of disease activity in patients with rheumatoid arthritis
Background: To investigate the influence of age on the components of the 28-joint Disease Activity Score (DAS28)-C-Reactive Protein (CRP) in patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) and whether DAS28-CRP can be equally in...
