The Sovereign Individual in the Latin American context of the 20th century

Abstract
To speak of the West is to speak of modernity, but this modernity has not taken place in the same way and at the same time for all those who are now part of the West. This essay starts from two initial questions: Is the Latin American a Western man? How is the trait of a sovereign man, typical of Western culture, seen in Latin Americans? After an analytical-hermeneutical review of the literature, in which the researchers and their subjectivity and historicity are direct participants, the essay closes by saying that in the same way that the Latin American is not crystallinely Western, nor is he a totally sovereign man.
