The Study of Prohibition of Discrimination in the Convention of the Elimination of Discrimination against Women in the Context of Azarbayjani Oral Literature

Journal Title: International Research Journal of Applied and Basic Sciences - Year 2013, Vol 5, Issue 11

Abstract

Discrimination can affect all human rights. Ignoring women's rights which are half of the community can lead to important results in forming the other part of the community. It can unbalance and decrease the development of society and we cannot have an ideal society. But laws by themselves cannot save women from discriminations that are legal from the cultural viewpoint. Before any cultural reforms we should know the target culture and its positive potentials. This paper is a cross-field and library-based research and tries to declare the Azarbayjani cultural potentials from the perspective of Dada Gorgot stories as the samples of Azarbayjanian oral literature in one thousand years ago and also Kor Oglu stories as the historical samples of four hundred years ago. The results of the paper show the important role of women in folklore stories and good cultural base for removal of discrimination against women. Also it shows appropriate standards for discrimination removal among different nations and even our society in Azerbaijan at the present time.
