The Sustenance Domain in Malay Proverbs Oriented by Aves Through the Semantic Inquisitive Perspective (Domain Rezeki dalam Peribahasa Melayu Berorientasikan Aves Melalui Perspektif Semantik Inkuisitif)
Journal Title: MALTESAS Multi-Disciplinary Research Journal - Year 2018, Vol 3, Issue 1
Abstract
Aves can be classified as animals that have wings (either fly or not), hot-blooded, two-legged and lay eggs. It is also known as vertebrate animals found throughout the world including in the desert, to the north and south pole and in tropical rain forests. The existence of Aves in Malay proverbs can be broken down into several other subspecies such as chicken (Gallus gallus domesticus), birds (Bird), ducks (Anas platyrhynchos) and goose (Anserini). This study is qualitative in analyzing Malay proverbs oriented by Aves through the semantic inquisitive perspective by Nor Hashimah Jalaluddin (2014) in the “sustenance” domain. Data findings were obtained from Kamus Istimewa Peribahasa Melayu (2016) by Abdullah Hussain. Furthermore, the analysis of the Cross Reference Framework (CRF) was applied in this study based on the corpus data in the Pangkalan Korpus Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP) and Malay Concordance Project (MCP). The use of corpus data not only could provide additional antecedents to researchers but also could help the researchers understand the context of the proverb into the mind of the speaker.
