THE TEACHER – THE FUNDAMENTAL RESOURCE OF THE EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM

Abstract
The pedagogical act underlines the two main agents of education: the teacher, the subject of education, is the one who initiates the educational process, designs and directs the didactic message, while the student as the object of education, receives pedagogical message and fructifies it. Teacher, the main shaper of students' personality is aware of his/her role in training students. This study captures the teachers’ opinion about the contemporary teacher's profile, about educational policies, on initial and continuing training programs, on how the Romanian education system fosters competence among teachers.
