The topic of national identity in the short novel «The revolution is coming» by Halyna Zhurba

Abstract
The rise of national consciousness and establishment of national identity among Volhynian peasantry in the 1920-1930s are analyzed in the article. The manifestations of the author’s individual and psychological dominant ideas and stylistic dominants of her prose are studied in terms of speci¿ c nature of the artistic world in the short novel «The Revolution Is Coming» by Halyna Zhurba. The examples of linguistic and stylistic colouring of the characters’ world polyphony and of the skillfully de¿ ned image metaphors are provided. The authors demonstrate the polyphony and stereophonism of the mosaic world view in the remote Volhynian village of Nezabytivka, created by Halyna Zhurba and reÀ ecting the echo of the Kyivan and Ukrainian nationwide events.
