THE UNITED STATES MILITARY-DEFENSE ASSISTANCE FOR UKRAINE UNDER PRESIDENT B. OBAMA: DISCUSSING THE PROVISION OF LETHAL WEAPONS

Abstract
The article considers the bilateral relationship of the United States and Ukraine in the context of military and de-fense cooperation to overcome the crisis in the East of our state. The presented research is a comprehensive study of the most substantial aspects of the United States military and defense support for Ukraine, including the possibility of the lethal weapons providing. Multilevel analysis of relations between the USA and Ukraine is reflected in scientific works and journalistic articles of a significant number of the foreign and domestic experts in international relations and political scholars, including Z. Brzeziński, D. Chollet, S. Woehrel, V. Morelli, A. Hetmanchuk, G. Mernikov, I. Medynskyi. The advantageous geopolitical location gives Ukraine the status of a prospective ally for the transatlantic com-munity. However, at the same time, it makes our state a subject to implement the foreign policy interests of other countries. Improving the defense is one of the most current issues for Ukraine. Thus, the financial and technical assis-tance of the United States serves as a factor that could allow preventing further escalation of aggression and keeping the Russian Federation from the invasion inland. Close cooperation with the United States could support Ukraine in moving closer to Europe Union until gradual integration, which remains impossible until Ukrainian-Russian conflict is resolved
