The use of Small Scale Inverters Working with Renewable Energy Sources in Order to Improve Voltage Quality in a Power Distribution Network

Abstract

The paper presents the results of a research project aimed at the construction of a single-phase inverter designed to transfer power from renewable energy sources (RES) to an electric power system (EPS). The research concerned the possibility of the small scale generation units based on voltage source inverters (VSI) use for power quality improve-ment in similar way as is observed in generation units based on synchronous generators connected directly to the grid. An overview of a hardware design with a control scheme description of the prototype is given in the paper. In the final section the simulation and experimental results of the designed inverter are presented and discussed.
