The use of Small Scale Inverters Working with Renewable Energy Sources in Order to Improve Voltage Quality in a Power Distribution Network
Journal Title: Acta Energetica - Year 2016, Vol 26, Issue 1
Abstract
The paper presents the results of a research project aimed at the construction of a single-phase inverter designed to transfer power from renewable energy sources (RES) to an electric power system (EPS). The research concerned the possibility of the small scale generation units based on voltage source inverters (VSI) use for power quality improve-ment in similar way as is observed in generation units based on synchronous generators connected directly to the grid. An overview of a hardware design with a control scheme description of the prototype is given in the paper. In the final section the simulation and experimental results of the designed inverter are presented and discussed.

Application of Matrix Notation for the Analysis of Power Changes in a 3 phase Circuit
Using the matrix notation for voltages and currents of a 3-phase system, a description of changing the instantaneous power on terminals of electric circuit has been offered as a third rank matrix. As a result of the powe...
Problems of Connecting Wind Farms to the Power System with HV Cables
This paper presents problems caused by connecting wind farms to a power system with high voltage cables. The author highlights possible problems with reactive power compensation, depending on the arrangement of the shunt...
Evaluation of Applicability of Classic Methods of a Fault Loop Im-pedance Measurement to Circuits with Residual Current Devices
Measurement of fault loop impedance in low voltage grids and systems is in most cases performed to verify the effectiveness of protection against electric shock by automatic disconnection of supply. For the sake of measu...
Electricity Distribution Effectiveness
This paper discusses the basic concepts of cost accounting in the power industry and selected ways of assessing the effectiveness of electricity distribution. The results of effectiveness analysis of MV/LV distribution t...
Planning the Operation of a Hybrid Generation System in the Power System in a Multi-faceted Approach
The paper presents the results of a multi-criteria analysis of the cooperation of a hybrid generation system (HGS) with the power system. The analysed system consists of wind turbines, photovoltaic panels and an energy s...
