The Value of Lie / The Importance of Interpretation

Abstract

This article focuses on the issue of lie that Nietzsche often refers to in his metaphysical criticism. By discussing the form of lie in the philosophy of Plato which is one of the points of criticism, perhaps the most important, this article questions the purpose, importance and value of lie in the philosophy of Nietzsche. The truth/lie dichotomy in the philosophy of Plato and philosophers’ right to use ‘lie’ leave its place to a different twist in Nietzsche’s philosophy. As this article criticizes the metaphysical tradition through Nietzsche's approach to the lie/truth problem, the main purpose is to show the fact that the habit of categorical limitation which divides the value of interpretations is still sustained.
