THEORETICAL AND APPLIED PRINCIPLES OF COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGES OF REGIONS AND THEIR IMPACT ON ECONOMIC SECURITY OF UKRAINE

Abstract

Introduction. Formation and strengthening of competitive advantages of regions can be a precondition for ensuring sustainable economic growth of the state. Moreover, the dynamism of the competitive advantages of regions has some impact on the economic state security and its main components. As one of the tasks of economic security is to ensure the competitiveness of the economy in the global economic system, identification, scientific and methodological substantiation of the influence mechanism of competitive advantages of the region on the economic security of Ukraine is relevant and popular, particularly in terms of the state desire to integrate into the European economic and social space. Methods. During the research was used the general scientific and special methods of system analysis and theoretical generalization, economic analysis, economic and statistical method, method of structural and logical analysis. Results. The theoretical and practical aspects are investigated and the definition of “region’s competitive advantage” is specified, particularly the concept of competitiveness and region’s competitive advantages are delineated. Considering the influence factors on the formation of region’s competitive advantages, the classification of region’s competitive advantages by major components: financial and economic, social, foreign trade, innovation and investment, organizational and institutional is conducted, that enables more clearly define the influence mechanism on economic security, and characterize the regions of Ukraine according to competitive advantage. The mechanism of influence competitive advantages of the region on the economic security of Ukraine for the formation of effective measures to improve the competitiveness of the region in terms of providing state economic security of the state is substantiated. Discussion. Further research in the analyzed area is advisable to focus on evaluating of relationships of the economic security and competitiveness of the region.
