THEORETICAL AND METHODOLOGICAL PRINCIPLES OF START-UP MANAGEMENT

Abstract
Purpose is to systematization of the existing developments and on this basis formation of theoretical and methodological foundations of a new direction in the theory and practice of management, which is start-up management. Methodology of research. In the course of the research, general scientific and special methods were used that provided for the analysis and critical comprehension of existing publications of foreign and domestic scientists, start-ups and practitioners – to determine the essential characteristics of startups, periodization of their life cycle, identification of the basic parameters of start-up management. Findings. The essential features of the start-up are defined. The description of the stages of the life cycle of the start-up with the list of activities, goals and tasks of individual stages has been made. Based on the modern paradigm of management and being aware of the peculiarities of a startup phenomenon, the author’s interpretation of the essence of the concept of «start-up management» is given. This interpretation considers start-up management as a set of principles, methods, styles and forms of start-up management which results into the content of the management process at the early stages of its life cycle, integrates the efforts (knowledge, intelligence and talent, finances, experience) of all the interested persons, enables the subjects of management to make and implement reasonable managerial decisions which are needed to achieve the objectives of creation and development of the start-up. There are also given characteristics of the object, the subjects and stakeholders, defined goals, tasks and main subsystems of start-up management. Originality. For the first time scientific interpretation of the concept of «start-up management» is given, deep understanding of the start-up phenomenon on the basis of determining its essential characteristics and the development of the periodization of the life cycle of the start-up through the definition of goals and objectives of individual stages are described. Practical value. Separating a new type of management results into systematization of the existing and development of new recommendations as to managing start-ups at the early stages of their life cycle.
