THEORETICAL BASES ENABLING THE RESEARCH OF THE PROBLEM OF STUDENTS’ KNOWLEDGE ASSESSMENT

Abstract

The article deals with the main vectors and methodical approaches of native and foreign scientists to the problem of quality assessment of students’ knowledge in the process of professional training at institutes of higher education. The credit-module system of education is considered to be the most integral and systemic approach to the process of education at higher school in the XXI century. A significant component of the educational activity is the system of control and assessment, diagnostics of students’ educational achievements, to be more precise. The rating system of assessment is one of the forms of students’ knowledge quality control within Ukraine’s modern establishments of higher education. The author has analyzed various aspects of students’ knowledge quality assessment, such as: general issues of ef- ficiency diagnostics of the educational process in institutes of higher education (expedience of the use of the rating assessment system, assessment criteria of this kind of students’ research work – preparation and defense of their term papers, in particular); determination of pedagogical conditions which facilitate monitoring of students’ educa- tional achievements quality (elaboration of objectives, tasks, contents, kinds, functions and principles of the moni- toring organization; facilitation of teachers’ theoretical and methodical preparedness to implement the monitoring into teaching / learning process; measures to make students subjects of the monitoring within the educational proc- ess, and other ones); control of students’ educational achievements, those of the students who are trained in different areas (peculiarities of students’ educational achievements assessment at higher technical schools, institutes of Physi- cal Culture, agricultural universities); use of testing control as a means of students’ knowledge assessment (criteria- oriented testing within the system of pre-school teachers’ professional preparedness development); possibility to use informational technologies in the process of students’ knowledge controlling (elaboration of the adapted system enabling distance education and knowledge control on the basis of intelligent Internet-technologies; the model of the students’ knowledge monitoring system aimed to organize students’ personified independent work within common informational-educational environment; elaboration of the computer-oriented three-component technology enabling the gradated (level) assessment of students’ educational achievements on the basis of probabilistic testing theories). Generalization of these materials enabled us to come to conclusion that recently great attention has been focused on the problem of students’ knowledge quality assessment (especially that one of the students who are trained in different areas). However, the problem dealing with the assessment of future pre-school pedagogues’ pedagogical knowledge quality has been studied insufficiently at the level of its methodical ground. Perspectives of the research are seen in the determination of new effective methods aimed at assessing future pre-school educators’ pedagogical knowledge.
