THEORETICAL BASIS OF ELECTIVE COURSE SYLLABUS CREATION “COUNTRY STUDY” FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS IN THE ASPECT OF FORMING SOCIO-CULTURAL COMPETENCE WHILE TEACHING READING

Abstract

The article is devoted to the study of the peculiarities of the syllabus creation of the elective course "Country study" for high school students of the 11th grade in the aspect of forming socio-cultural competence while teaching reading according to the up-to-date trends in this field. As a result of the research, the requirements to the new generation syllabus, the requirements for the development of author elective courses and manuals for the study of elective courses, the existing methodological guides for the course "Country study" for high school students and the experience of teachers and existing author's syllabus for elective courses were analyzed. The provided syllabus for the course "Country Study" has an "explanatory note", a precise structure and content of socio-cultural competence in English-speaking reading, the concept of the course, the place of the elective course in the education system of high school, the evaluation criteria within the 12-point system, the planning of lessons, and the level of foreign language proficiency.
