Theoretical foundations of social capital research

Abstract
The article reveals the theoretical foundations of social capital. An analysis of the structure of social capital was conducted. It is determined that trust is the main element that ensures the integrity of all components of the social capital structure and unites individual capital of people at the level of labor collectives, social movements, national and state communities. An indicator of the maturity of social capital is the level of trust. Approaches to the interpretation of the essence of social capital are revealed and it is proved that its formation has a long period, has national peculiarities and can stimulate the development of socio–economic processes and promote the implementation of the most important goals of society. It is noted that the results of the process of accumulation of social capital are developed public consciousness. The centers for the accumulation of social capital are public organizations and associations, parties and movements, religious denominations and communities, public–private partnerships, programs aimed at the development of family values and norms, positive models of human behavior. It has been proved that social capital can have a negative impact on the development of the economy and society. It is proved that globalization is also a source of social capital. The role and significance of the state for the development of social capital in society are revealed. The factors and features of the development of social capital in post– Soviet countries and the importance of informal institutions are revealed. It is substantiated that Ukrainian society is characterized by low resources of social capital.
